Workshop Leaders: Diane F. Drake, LDO, ABOM, FCLSA Warren McDonald, PhD.
This interactive 4-hour workshop demonstrates the various illuminations and how they should be used. The attendee will be enlightened to the fundamentals and use of the keratometer for contact lens pre-fit evaluation as well as its importance in follow-up care, and the instrument’s original application as a corneal lensmeter. The relationship of corneal curvature to refractive error will be addressed, leaving the student with a knowledge of corneal and refractive astigmatism as it pertains to contact lens design. Advances in corneal measurement and analysis through the use of a video corneal topography will be discussed. Finally, verification of contact lenses will be covered using a number of verification procedures.
